Psalm 23

It's prize-giving on Sunday so a service of celebration mixed in with the 23rd Psalm which is the reading for the day. That seems a awkward combination at first but it is the last of our heritage hymns so here's one we'd like to pass on to the next generation.

It's not just for funerals. In fact its not for funerals at all. It's the psalm that affirms presence through all things: overflowing banqueting tables and darkest valleys. no matter where you are there is the tap, tap, tap of the shepherds crook to lead us, blind though we are at times, to greener pastures.

So we celebrate on Sunday and offer this ancient gift to our newest saints and with grace wait and see what song, word or comment they would like to offer us who have been in the faith much longer and hopefully imagine it has not yet all been said.
