Starter for Ten

Starter for 10 for Sunday's 10.30 classical service (though remember the inter-generational service at 9.30 for 30 minutes in the hall too) In one you'll stay fairly permanently in your pew, the other you won't sit down too long...

Anyway, here's how we gather in the 10.30 service which is all about the bible's sibling stories:

Right there

in the beginning

is a story

of two brothers;

and the earth still cries out

with the blood of Abel,

but they are not the only ones:

Isaac and Ishmael

Jacob and Esau

Joseph and his brothers

If you look to the bible for your iconic model of family relationship

then you will find only disappointment

in the dysfunctional family of God

yet there in those complex sibling relationships

God chooses to set free love

to make known the kingdom

Then it was between just two brothers or sisters

now, there are more siblings

but the love

bigger than any one side

is still the same

Let us worship the God whose love

doesn’t take sides
