Refugee Response

Refugee Response Group meets next Monday in the Walkround at 5pm.

This is an open group as is true with all our groups. One of the big things that came out of our consultation was that people thought (perfectly understandably) that the groups we run are open only to the congregation.

All our groups, ALL of them are open to everyone including how we respond to the needs of others. Our refugee response group is case in point where we organise the group in an ecumenical and community way. We're meeting in the Walkround next week but we tour round.

We are also linked with the Milngavie Refugee group too and we support a couple of refugee families that have moved to the area with English Conversation and finding resources, and equipment, along with beginning to organise social events to help integrate.

But just to echo the first point that whatever we run, we run for everyone and more and more we want to run things together. That was another important point that came out from our consultation, that people have greater trust in what the church does when it runs things alongside other groups.

But then surely that is what Jesus constantly talked about: love neighbour..., when the least of these is hungry..., etc. Welcome to the shape of the kingdom.
