Just finished a very first draft of the sermon on Sunday. The theme we have this week through the Narrative Lectionary is Creation. That's a hard one at the best of times but especially as we watch Irma slides across the Caribbean. All things bright and beautiful doesn't seems to have the moral content anymore.

Anyway here's a bit from the sermon to whet your appetites (or make you decide to stay home!)

"And for those who imagine we can use creation just as we want… and for our own means… and without recognition of the balance of life… really ought to read their bibles again… just the first page… to hear these words… that creation is essentially a moral question… and plundering it for our economies… and power… and destroying it through conflict and pollution… and imagining that doesn’t change the world… is stripping out the moral foundation of the universe…"
