Shepherd and Sheep Stories
Why, when there is so much said in the bible a out shepherds and sheep do we not build our faith communities round such images? We are still in the old model of power and authority rather than influence and itinerant lifestyles.
We love being of fixed abode. We love the bling and the decore and the 'beautiful buildings' which speak of wealth and position yet the bible doesn't like anything of power in that way. It tries its best to spurn kingship. God shouts loudest when the power of others becomes the main influence on the nation.
So why do we pay lip-service to shepherding from our comfortable corridors of power?
