Pulling the wool

November 11, 2015

Does it not fascinate us that those with the power in international athletics thought we thought they were all innocent and never used drugs? Let's be clear, this is not about most athletes, nor probably most British athletes but clearly there has been a lot of chatter since 2012 about particular countries less than honest approach to drug testing.

Let's be more specific: all the rush to save some face in international athletics for some countries to be seen to set up investigations into doping allegations etc, doesn't surprise us nor do we expect those investigations to be any more honest than the doping allegations in the first place.

It is the same with FIFA and fixing results in cricket and football and others.

But it is beyond that too, way beyond.

Why is it that those in power begin to believe their own propaganda when the rest of us treat them all more and more cynically. It is quite a state for us all to be in for the powerful o think we are all daft and for us to become more cynical about things.

We need a good doze (sorry, probably wrong word) of the beatitudes, of the Good Samaritan, of feeding the 5000 and other episodes in the work of community kingdom building, but not our own kingdoms but just one suitable for us all.

Do you think one day we will get to that stage, all of us?
