Chocolate Teapots

Given the headlines this weekend and the language used it is clear the story of Easter is right there before us (by the way, I know this is not very good):

 

We believe in 'u-turns'

along with 'denials'

in 'deficits' aplenty

and 'resignations' too

 

We believe in 'puzzles'

be they 'somewhat' or 'slight'

and 'disappointments' in heaps

from one side or other

 

We believe resurrection

is the ultimate U-turn

on the absolute certainty

of the way of death

 

We believe that denial

comes from a fear

that an empty tomb

might actually be true

 

and deficit is the result

of a crucified love

and will do it again

and again and again

 

and then resignation

is a state of being

when you lose all hope

and keep the doors locked

 

and disappointment is rife

among all who deny

the possibility of God

to transform all things

 

but here is the blessing

and here is good news

for those who are cynical

of all that goes on

 

being somewhat puzzled

is the start of faith

when the women proclaim

the stone has rolled
