We had our first meeting exploring how we might respond further to refugees in Europe and from so many other places. We've each given ourselves tasks to find out more information and to invite others to come along next Wednesday (20th April) at 7pm in the Walkround at New Kilpatrick Church to see where we go next.
We talked about gathering information, finding partners, wondering about responding with skills such as mentoring or befriending, or organising respite weekends or activities to share culture and tradition and heritage with refugees.
But first, finding out who else is doing things, who we can be partners with, finding out the needs from local authorities and charities and organisations will help us find out where we should focus our attention. We can randomly collect this and that but if it isn't needed then its pointless. The best bits about the kingdom of God often happen when we work with others across the breadth of society.
So if you are interested in being part of this project then come along at 7pm next Wednesday. You'd be very welcome. None of us are experts or have done this before so come along and work with us as we find ways of working with others in responding to this particular need.
