Refugee Response

May 10, 2016

We had a very moving Refugee Response meeting tonight. We heard about what was going on elsewhere and where we might be able to partner others in responding to needs of refugees and asylum seekers.

But what brought all of it home was a lady from Syria who had to flee and was now sitting with us tonight. We heard her story through a lot of tears (not just hers). It was the first time she had been able to tell it. It was honest, painful and full of hurt.

And everything all of us have heard up to now, and every attempt to see through headlines and media and policies were simply crushed in the honest story of this professional woman from Syria who ran for her life with her family having been threatened by government and rebels both.

Do something to tell the government to stop
Your welcome has been so generous
I would like to return to Syria but cannot yet
Please help those in the camps: they are so bad
We who are here in Glasgow have been made so welcome, thank you so much, but please help the camps

True stories from real people who are brave and honest hold the gospel more than any theology, assembly deliverance, right doctrine or printed page from the Bible.

We had that tonight and I think it changed us.

Meeting again on 24th May, 7pm, Walkround. You'd be more than welcome. Others are already coming.
