It's about New Year on Sunday and the story of Simeon and Anna. All that waiting. Were these two British?
I was reading somewhere that if we spend all our time rushing to fulfilment, getting paces, arriving at Christmas, or new year or anywhere too busy to pause and stop and breathe, then we are too quick to love.
Culture has us speeded up so much that no one has any real time to be patient. People in a hurry can’t be patient so people in a hurry cannot really love.
To love we need to be sensitive to those around us, which is impossible if we are racing through life engrossed in all the things we need to do. To love you need time to be compassionate, to give up time for others, give of your own time to make time for others.
So perhaps in this new year time listen to Anna and Simeon and stop the world a moment or two and dare give time to love it, be at ease enough to love.
