Hey, the iconic psalm of comfort has just become the psalm of choice to stand up against the chaos of the world that attempts to limit us and divide us and reduce our capacity for life.
'I will fear no evil for thou art with me'
In the evil that portrays itself in so many horrible ways, we will not let the fear of that limit who we are. And we will not let it do that, not because of all the anti-terrorist networks and the surveillance done by MI5 etc though these make such a difference to our confidence, but because love is with us.
The shepherd's psalm, the pastoral psalm gets to the heart of things and recognises the world as it is, and recognises how to live in such a world: without fear because love is present and love is greater (thanks to Timothy F. Simpson for his initial thoughts on this).
