1 Samuel 3
Where are the prophets? Where are the folk who speak out today in the name of all that is good and just and righteous and calls the rest of us to look at ourselves in a mirror because we need them.
For Samuel and Eli, a voice in the dark. For us today, a text, a tweet, a headline? I'm sure God isn't limited to the drama of a voice crying out in the temple.
Perhaps God's voice is screaming at us, loud and clear from texts, tweets and headlines all the time but few of us notice or recognise it or know what to do with it.
Simple response is, "Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening", but after God's voice comes the use of our own voices. After God's voice, we need to clear our throats and use our own. This person here is the prophet: the one who clears their throats, and makes a call for justice.
